Emily Norman is an award winning narrator with professional acting training and experience on stage, on screen and in the booth. She’s narrated over 75 titles from her home studio and has had the pleasure of working with publishers such as Penguin, Macmillan and Simon & Schuster as well as with best selling Indie Authors.

Her first clue that this was the job for her was in 5th grade when she couldn’t WAIT for her turn to read out loud in front of the class. It was Shakespeare. And yes, she did voices. Fast forward to college. She received degrees from Wheaton College in Philosophy and Vocal Performance giving her an eye for text analysis and an ear for giving a nuanced performance with distinct, authentic characters.

She specializes in narrating books with big feelings where she can wear her heart on her sleeve, whether someone is being chased down an alley, falling in love, or dealing with, like, soooo much high school drama.

This work is not only fun, it’s meaningful because stories are powerful. Some of Emily’s life experiences enable her to be a more connected, authentic storyteller. First, she’s Cherokee Native American and is very proud of that cultural heritage. She’s also a Christian and puts her whole heart into books with themes of faith. She could share fun facts all day long, like she’s chased tornadoes, lived abroad in England, and can bake her grandmother’s cheesecake recipe with her eyes closed, but probably the most significant fact about her is that she has a sensitive, hopeful heart. She roots for the underdog and cares about the person who feels invisible or insignificant. She relates to the insecure teen with body image issues, the postpartum mom or the lonely adult battling depression. Those slice of life stories with small heroes fighting for what’s right or for their happily ever after? Those are her favorites.
